A Trial – after An Enemy of the People

Heavyweight Brazilian director Christiane Jatahy joins forces with Brazilian star of the moment Wagner Moura – fresh off his best actor Academy Award nomination for The Secret Agent – for a fresh spin on Ibsen’s immortal An Enemy of the People. The Trial relocates the action to present day Brazil and calls on members of the audience to act as the jury deciding the fate of Moura’s Thomas Stockmann, on trial for his attempts to uncover a water pollution scandal. No two shows are the same and the actions of the jury will genuinely matter in Jatahy’s trademark blurring of fiction and reality.
