The last Avengers film, ‘Age of Ultron’, was too busy explaining the plot and setting up the next few movies to spend much time on character. But ‘Civil War’, by focusing on just two superheroes – Chris Evans’s square-jawed Captain America and Robert Downey Jr’s cynical but smart Tony Stark, aka Iron Man – reminds us why we liked these guys in the first place. Of course, the character list doesn’t end there. The film features appearances from (deep breath) Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), War Machine (Don Cheadle), The Vision (Paul Bettany), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and a brand new Spider-Man (Tom Holland). More on them later.
