Turku’s wide range of second-hand shops offers something for every taste – and in plenty of locations too – so you can browse for bargains all over the city. Most stores are clustered in the city centre, making it easy to go thrifting on foot or by bike. There are also a few gems further out that are well worth the bus ride.

Turku’s flea markets and vintage shops are much more than just second-hand stores. Many host events such as themed weeks, workshops and craft courses, making them lively community hubs as well as great places to shop.

The best thrift stores in Turku

1. Maanantaimarket

What is it? Turku’s prettiest second-hand shop, selling only adults’ clothes, shoes and accessories – plus a carefully curated selection of lifestyle products.

Why go? Matleena Töhönen’s dream of owning her own second-hand boutique came true in 2019 when Maanantaimarket opened its doors in the heart of Turku. Locals fell in love instantly – the rails have been full ever since. What makes this place truly special is its dreamy pastel aesthetic and attention to detail, from the golden rack numbers and branded paper bags to the beautifully designed price tags. Alongside preloved fashion, you’ll find charming extras such as Papershop stationery, Blomma Creatives flower bouquets and Matleena’s own Maanantaimalli jewellery. The downstairs space also hosts events like jewellery-making workshops.

Time Out tip: Follow Maanantaimarket on Instagram – the team posts their top daily finds each morning and styles them into outfit inspo.

2. Taika Second Hand Shop

What is it? One of Turku’s loveliest children’s second-hand shops, with a smaller section for adult and maternity wear.

Why go? Opened in 2018 near Länsikeskus, Taika is a popular family-friendly flea market with more than 160 sales spots – so there’s always something new to browse. Expect clothes, shoes, toys and accessories for kids of all ages, along with small-batch items from Finnish makers, like jewellery and baby products. There’s a play area and a baby-care room, plus a café serving coffee, drinks, chocolate and baby food. You can even warm up your own snacks in the microwave – a rare and thoughtful touch. It’s just a ten-minute bus ride from Turku Market Square, with plenty of free parking for drivers.

Time Out tip: Taika hosts themed photo shoots a few times a year – they book up quickly, so keep an eye on Instagram at @taikasecondhandshop.

4. Nurkka Second Hand

What is it? A cute little thrift shop just outside Turku city centre, known for its themed weeks and friendly community feel.

Why go? After years of thrift-hunting as a hobby, former flight attendant Emmi Dahl decided to turn her passion into a business. In autumn 2024 she opened Nurkka Second Hand in the Martti district. It’s an easy bus ride from the centre or a 30-minute walk from the Market Square. Spread over two floors with around 40 sales spots, it’s packed with clothes, bags, shoes and home goods. At the back, you’ll find Nurkan Olohuone (the Living Room), a cosy corner for pop-up events like Vintage Weeks and kids’ face-painting sessions. Visitors can make themselves an instant coffee or tea for €1 – and best of all, dogs are welcome too.

5. Dirty Hippies Secondhand & Lifestyle

What is it? A stylish second-hand shop just a short walk from Turku Market Square, selling only quality adult clothing and accessories.

Why go? The hippies have come home. Founded by Eeva Sahlsten in 2020, Dirty Hippies started life at Eeva’s kitchen table before opening its first shop in Turku city centre. In 2024, it returned to its roots with a move back to the Martti district, where it all began. This much-loved local gem offers full-service consignment – meaning staff inspect, price and display your items for you. Anything low-quality or from ultra-fast-fashion brands doesn’t make the cut. The website is also worth a visit: you can shop online, read tips on clothing care and resale, and even rent clothes, bags, jewellery and accessories for a weekend party. How handy is that?

Time Out tip: Dirty Hippies regularly hosts Memmicharm jewellery workshops where you can design your own pendant using hundreds of charms and chains. Spaces fill up fast, so book early!

Address: Kupittaankatu 122

6. Sinulle – Kirpputori & Käsityöt

Why go? Part thrift store, part craft studio, Sinulle is a one-of-a-kind spot in Turku. Alongside second-hand finds, it hosts hands-on workshops on everything from crochet and knitting to sock-making. There’s also a DIY jewellery corner where you can drop in anytime to create your own beaded bracelet or wooden earrings. For something extra special, you can book the entire shop for private shopping sessions with friends or colleagues (€100 per hour, outside regular opening hours).

7. UFF Second Hand Turku

What is it? One of Finland’s best-known second-hand chains, with stores refreshed 8–9 times a year.

Why go? No guide to Turku’s best thrift stores would be complete without the legendary UFF. The city has two branches, including a modern new shop by the Market Square that opened in 2022. The focus is on stylish, good-quality second-hand clothing, shoes, accessories and home textiles for all ages. The Eerikinkatu location stands out for its bright, thoughtful layout – complete with styled mannequins, new-arrival rails and well-lit fitting rooms. All proceeds go towards global development projects, supporting education and small-scale farming in some of the world’s poorest communities, as well as funding Finland’s nationwide clothing collection service.

Time Out tip: Head to the Humalistonkatu branch for vintage finds – from retro classics to Y2K treasures that are back in fashion.

Address: Eerikinkatu 9

Opening hours: Mon–Fri 10.00–20.00, Sat 10.00–18.00, Sun 12.00–18.00

8. Turun Kontti Secondhand

What is it? A large, well-organised store in Länsikeskus – part of the nationwide Kontti chain run by the Finnish Red Cross.

Why go? This enormous 960-square-metre shop is a treasure trove of bargains. As you enter, themed display tables of colour-coordinated homewares and crockery set the tone for the well-curated selection ahead. Expect racks of clothing, shoes, bags, sports gear, books and more – all neatly presented and reasonably priced. Every textile is steamed before being put on sale, so everything looks crisp and clean. The changing seasonal displays make browsing a joy, whether you’re after linen in summer or chunky knits in winter. All proceeds go to support Red Cross work in Finland and abroad, with some donations sent directly to aid projects via Kontti’s logistics centre.

Time Out tip: Always check the lighting section at the back – it’s full of great finds. Staff often test and fit new bulbs before putting lamps out for sale.
