Get ready to recline in style – Finnkino is bringing movie theatre beds to cinemas in Finland for the first time

Now there’s a solution to getting people into those front-row seats that usually no one wants: turn them into the most luxurious spots in the cinema. Finnkino is the first in Finland to install specially designed cinema beds where you can lie back and stretch out comfortably. They’re big enough for two people and make a perfect treat for a cosy movie outing – ideal for that special someone in your life, although maybe not quite first-date territory. They also work well for families, as the bed can fit two adults and one child, as long as everyone has a ticket for the screening.
The cinema beds will be installed in the front rows at Itis (Auditorium 2) and Tennispalatsi (Auditorium 3) in Helsinki in early February – just in time for Valentine’s Day.
In terms of price, the cinema beds offer affordable luxury. A full cinema bed for two costs the equivalent of two premium tickets, but you can also book half a bed for yourself with one premium ticket. Finnkino hasn’t said yet what happens to the other half of the bed in that case – will it stay empty, or might a random fellow filmgoer swoop in and share the space? Now that’s a concept for blind date night.
They’re the size of a large double bed, measuring around 204 cm wide and 200 cm deep, giving you plenty of space to relax while you watch. Now you just have to decide whether to bring a bowl of popcorn or your favourite cuddly toy to settle in with.
