The grand, granite architecture of Kallio church becomes a vast, living canvas in this multimedia show

The granite architecture of Kallion kirkko becomes a vast, living canvas this winter as GENESIS: An Immersive Lightshow arrives in Helsinki. Blending classical music with slow-burning light projections, the internationally acclaimed installation transforms the church’s dramatic interior into a calm, 30-minute audiovisual experience.
Already seen in dozens of cities and selling more than 100,000 tickets worldwide, GENESIS reshapes itself to each new venue. In Kallio, that means projections that trace the building’s soaring spaces, granite surfaces and fine architectural details, flowing seamlessly across walls, ceilings and arches.
Perched on a hilltop and designed by Art Nouveau master Lars Sonck, Kallio Church is one of Helsinki’s most imposing landmarks. Its national romantic style, acoustics and monumental scale aren’t just a backdrop here – they’re integral to the show.
Created by Zurich-based art collective PROJEKTIL, GENESIS premieres in Finland on Saturday 31 January 2026 and runs at Kallio Church until early March. Tickets start at €14.90. Performances last around 30 minutes and take place almost daily, with showtimes varying by date.
