There is rarely much reason to look forward to a dark and grey November in Helsinki. This year, however, is different: trams will begin crossing Kruunuvuori Bridge on 7 November 2026.
The bridge was completed ahead of schedule, and tram services will also begin earlier than originally expected. The new route will be served by tram 11, running between Pasila and Kruunuvuorenranta, and tram 12, connecting Railway Square with Yliskylä. The journey between Yliskylä in Laajasalo and Railway Square will take around 20 minutes.
The new tramway crosses three bridges, including the 1.2-kilometre Kruunuvuori Bridge, the longest bridge in Finland. Its elevated position offers sweeping views across the sea, including towards Suomenlinna.
The bridge opened to pedestrians and cyclists in April. Cars are not permitted.
