Brazos Bookstore says
Authors Mark Haber and Scott Esposito will be in conversation with the Spanish translators of their books, Efrén Ordóñez and Marco Alcalá. These are the first two books to be published by Argonáutica Books, a Mexican press based in Monterrey, Mexico.

The moderator for the evening will be Philip Boehm, playwright, theater director, and literary translator. He is currently the Artistic Director of Upstream Theater in St. Louis, Missouri.

Mark Haber’s short story collection, “Melville’s Beard” / “Las barbas de Melville” is a collection of short stories mixing satire and absurdity, influenced equally by Franz Kafka and Donald Barthleme. This collection was first published in 2009 as “Deathbed Conversions”. His reviews have been published in LitHub, Music & Literature and The Rumpus.

Scott Esposito is the senior editor of Two Lines Press, a contributing editor of BOMB magazine and founder of The Quarterly Conversation. His criticism has been punblished in the Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post. “Latin American Mixtape” / “Mixtape latinoamericana” is a collection of literary “b-sides” and hard to find items, all relating to Latin America and its authors.

Besides a book launch for the Spanish-language debut of these two works, the evening will be a discussion about the value of literary translation and building bridges between cultures.
