AVARICE [av-er-is] -- insatiable greed for riches;
inordinate, miserly desire to gain and hoard wealth.

This performance explores the questions...
Why is it that in our country so FEW have so MUCH and so MANY have so LITTLE?? How is it that Wall Street is receiving the largest taxpayer bailouts in the history of the world with no strings attached, while poverty increases and the American middle class continues to disappear? How is it that the gap between the very rich and everyone else is growing wider and wider?? WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE to live in a society where the top one-tenth of 1 percent own more wealth than the bottom 90 percent??

In this performance, we will attempt to embody the greed, fraud, & depravity of our American economic system and explore how this consciousness of greed and lack permeates through all of us. We do this in hopes of inspiring a new generation of people to work for social and economic justice. Incorporating elements of Japanese BUTOH, postmodern dance, multimedia, and performance art, we cordially invite you to join us for this journey as we explore the depths within ourselves and of the greater collective.
