Rice University Department of Mathematics says
A Celebration of Life for Rice University Professor Curt Michel, husband of our Bonnie Hausman and long time friend of the Math department will be held at the Rice Memorial Chapel on Sunday, May 3rd, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm followed by a reception at the Rice Memorial Center Grand Hall from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
An open mike will be at hand and family, friends and colleagues are invited to share their stories and memories during the reception.

Professor Curt Michel, an astrophysicist, was among NASA's first scientist-astronauts and was recruited to Rice's first-in-the-nation space science department in 1963. He chaired the department from 1974 to 1979. Prof. Michel's astrophysics research focused primarily on radio pulsars, or rapidly rotating magnetized neutron stars, from their discovery in 1967 through the course of his career. He wrote a book on the subject, "Theory of Neutron Star Magnetospheres" (University of Chicago Press, 1991).(www.space.com)
