About Houston Grand Opera’s “After the Storm”:

This world premiere chamber opera—inspired by and set in Galveston—tells the story of one family’s choices and memories on the eve of the next major hurricane. Created by three rising stars of the opera world: composer David Hanlon, librettist Stephanie Fleischmann, and director Matthew Ozawa, “After the Storm” took shape through intensive research and interviews with Galveston residents, historians, and meteorologists. The result is a gripping theatrical experience that evokes the resilience and spirit of Gulf Coast communities. Performances are May 13 & 15 in Houston and Galveston. More info at hgo.org/storm.
