Downtown "Ghost" Tour From Those Who Desire says
A WALKING TOUR OF UNCOMMON HISTORY IN THE HEART OF THE BAYOU CITY

In 1836, Houston founders Augustus Chapman Allen and John Kirby Allen stepped out of a boat onto the banks of Buffalo Bayou, staked their claim, and shortly executed the first of many shady business deals in Houston’s history. From that first real estate scam, a whole city was born.

Those Who Desire is a project taking an uncommon, and critical look at Houston’s well-known histories, and delving into its lost, often difficult ones.

This walking tour is a fundraiser benefiting the upcoming Those Who Desire bus tours next Spring, and is PAY WHAT YOU CAN (suggested donation is $20).

Join this walking tour through the oldest part of the city, and confront the “ghosts” of its forgotten, and ignored past. While not a literal ghost tour (though at least one of the sites is known to have a specter), the tour does deal with adult topics including slavery, murder, police violence, lynchings, prostitution, drug and alcohol use. There is also a fair bit of humor, and a few stops at bars along the way.

Topics explored on the tour include:

- Real estate scams
- Outdated political designations, and cultural identity
- Rich guys taking advantage of poor people
- Bartenders sleeping with jocks
- SEX, DRUGS and ROCK & ROLL!!!

…and so much more!
