Jewel, recognized in her hometown of Houston as a child prodigy and starring at Club Ebony when she she was just 17, has been in the music business for over sixty-five years, playing & touring initially with Earl Grant, Lionel Hampton and other luminaries, and following up at only 24 years of age with a seven-year stint as the great Louis Armstrong's favored vocalist.

After working with some of the best jazz and blues players of her time, Jewel retired from singing in the early 1970s to care for her beloved parents, making only rare appearances that included a live recording with Arnett Cobb and Dizzy Gillespie and festivals with the New Orleans-based Heritage Hall Jazz Band over the next few decades. In 2012 she recorded again, when producer Eddie Stout paired her with guitarist Milton Hopkins on an album highlighting Jewel's blues and gospel roots, and since that time Jewel has been experiencing a delightful international career renaissance that shows no signs of slowing down.

Jewel will be celebrating the release of her new Dynaflow Records CD 'Roller 'Coaster Boogie', recorded in Japan with the ultra cool swing band 'Bloodest Saxophone', and will be accompanied at our first "HBS Sundays at Sambuca" event by the very impressive R.A.D.S II.0 The Krusaders.

Join us for a leisurely dinner and experience some of the best music you'll hear anywhere.
