The event creator says
Visual Soliloquy is Luke Poteete's second solo exhibition this year, at Khon's Bar downtown. Come have a drink and meet the artist and enjoy the local art scene! Saturday November 7th.

"The term “soliloquy” is a device used in drama when a character speaks to themselves by relating thoughts and feelings, sharing them with the audience, giving off the illusion that they are a series of unspoken reflections. Any work of art is essentially a visual representation of the artists thoughts and feelings. During an exhibition or presentation of a work of art the audience is observing an internal conversation the artist has had with themselves. This observation of a work of art sparks a deeper level of introspection in the viewer, and though this may have nothing to do with the subject in the painting, or in this case the artists thoughts, it has evoked an emotional response from the viewer. Much like a shakespearean play using soliloquies to speak to an audience, I do the same, using visual representations of thoughts to speak directly to my viewers. Like any work of art, it is subject to interpretation by the viewer. They filter the image through emotion, past experience, opinions, logic, imagination and many other functions of a healthy brain, all of these are active in deciphering what they will take out of a work of art. Visual soliloquies activate many of the untouched facets of daily human consciousness. As the artist I take a break from the norm and delve into my own psychology and philosophical ideals, and as a viewer of art, the same could be said for the function of interpreting a work of art."
