Join us for the fifth annual Houston edition of World Naked Bike Ride! Even if you don't ride, Super Happy Fun Land will host a gathering for the Socially Nude H-Town Meetup group that evening.

20 June is the day of the WNBR Houston Victory Lap. We have this ride mostly for those who have to miss the main ride (https://www.facebook.com/events/1554814834773113/) or enjoyed it so much they crave an encore.

The nudity symbolizes and highlights how vulnerable we are as we try to do right by the planet by walking and cycling instead of motoring everywhere. As 2014's tour of Ghost Bikes demonstrated, cyclists are as vulnerable as ever in this city.

In 2015, we ride to represent H-Town!
H-Town may mean "Houston,"
H-Town may share territory with Houston,
But H-Town IS NOT Houston.

H-Town is cool, funky, counter-cultural. H-Town rides bikes. H-Town produces and consumes noise music and indy hip-hop. H-Town cries when overpriced yuppie lofts are planted where a brick fourplex used to stand.

Houston eventually demolishes and paves over everything cool, funky, and counter-cultural in its path, all in the name of the developers and oil barons who run the place. Or it tries to: Think of the brick streets in Freedmen's Town (http://www.houstonsun.com/2014/07/30/save-our-streets-freedmens-town-fights-for-brick-streets/).

This group is keeping the name "WNBR Houston" only so people can find it.

We have a victory to celebrate this year: bike lanes downtown! We can also thank Houston and Mayor Parker for the Complete Streets and Transportation Plan (http://www.houstontx.gov/planning/docs_pdfs/Exec_Order_Complete_Streets.pdf). We can thank them for reaching out to the cycling community, including Critical Mass, and for putting a bikeway on Lamar Street downtown.

But none of this would have happened if H-Town (and groups like Bike Houston) hadn't agitated for it!

Start and finish at Super Happy Fun Land
Possible Stops:
1. The Summit on Navigation Boulevard
2. Toot Suite on Commerce Street
3. Walter's Downtown
4. Jimmy's Ice House on White Oak Drive
5. Neil's Bahr on Walker Street

* Naked = Bare As You Dare. We know the law in Houston, and we know Houston law enforcement. Knock on wood, in the previous four years HPD has only told us to keep our loins covered.

Sec. 28-18. Public nudity
It shall be unlawful for any person to appear on any public street, sidewalk, alley, or other public thoroughfare, in or such close proximity thereto, as to be observed by the public traveling on such street, sidewalk, or other public thoroughfare, in a state of complete nudity, or in such a manner of dress or of undress in a manner which exposes to the public view such person's genitalia and/or buttocks, and in the case of a female, the female breasts.
