Earlier this year, the genre-bending Gorillaz broke several Instagram feeds and human heads by announcing an India tour in Bengaluru and Mumbai for their album The Mountain. Now, the duo’s shot out of the blue to add a Guwahati stop!

Given the theme of the release, this is a fitting and clearly very welcome addition – Guwahati’s been popping its head up as a concert destination this year like no other non-’tier 1’ city (Post Malone, Guns N’ Roses, and more).

Reportedly, this was partially due to a collaboration with Assam Tourism, who have previously pushed for the concert economy’s growth in the Northeast state by bringing down pop/hip-hop star Post Malone in December 2025 and in November, will host rock legends Guns N’ Roses.

Here’s everything to know about the Gorillaz tour given this big news.

The complete tour rundown

Guwahati: January 31, 2027 at Sarusajai Sports Complex (Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium)
Bengaluru: January 23, 2027 at the District Arena @ Terraform
Mumbai: January 27, 2027 at Jio World Garden, BKC

Sales for the Bengaluru and Mumbai are already live, with tickets starting at ₹5,000. The pre-sale for Guwahati, meanwhile, starts at noon on September 12. The general on-sale starts on September 20 at 1pm.

All tickets are available on the District app.

More about Gorillaz

For the uninitiated: Gorillaz are the world's most successful virtual band, created in 1998 by Blur frontman Damon Albarn and Tank Girl artist Jamie Hewlett. The project consists of four animated members – singer 2-D, bassist Murdoc Niccals, guitarist Noodle and drummer Russel Hobbs – whose fictional backstories have evolved over nine albums. The music is very much real, with Albarn at the helm alongside a rotating cast. It spans alternative rock, hip-hop, electronic music, and trip-hop.

With era-defining hits like 'Feel Good Inc.', 'Clint Eastwood', 'On Melancholy Hill' and 'Stylo', Gorillaz holds a Guinness World Record as the Most Successful Virtual Act. Their live shows are known to be spectacular audio-visual experiences, blending holographic animation, performers and Hewlett's iconic artwork into something close to immersive theatre.

The Mountain has been met with near-universal critical acclaim. It was recorded across Mumbai, New Delhi, Jaipur, Rishikesh and Varanasi, featuring legendary Indian collaborators including Asha Bhosle, Anoushka Shankar, flautist Ajay Prasanna, and sarod maestros Amaan and Ayaan Ali Bangash. The 15-track album features performances in five languages – English, Hindi, Arabic, Spanish and Yoruba. It’s rooted in the Gorillas’ creators’ experiences of travelling to India, while processing loss.
