Fans hoping to catch the award-winning R&B artists are sorely disappointed after his team announced the cancellation of his upcoming tour.

Maxwell’s highly anticipated South African tour has been cancelled. The three-time Grammy Award winner was due to perform at the SunBet Arena, Time Square in Pretoria on Saturday, August 8, followed by a second show at Grand Arena, GrandWest in Cape Town on Tuesday, August 11.
Promoter Vertex Events confirmed the cancellation following communication from Maxwell’s team, citing “unforeseen circumstances beyond anyone’s control”.
“Despite every effort by both Vertex Events and Maxwell’s team to find a solution, unforeseen circumstances beyond anyone’s control made it impossible for the shows to go ahead,” the promoter said in an official statement.

The two concerts had been timed around the Women’s Day long weekend and were expected to feature hits spanning Maxwell’s three-decade career, from his acclaimed 1996 debut Urban Hang Suite to fan favourites including Pretty Wings.
All ticket holders will receive a full refund. Webtickets will reach out to its customers with further information on the refund process. Vertex Events further apologised for the disappointment and said it hoped to welcome Maxwell back to South Africa in the future.
"We know how much these concerts meant to so many of you, and we sincerely apologise for the disappointment and inconvenience this has caused."
