A cut-off low is expected to bring unsettled, wet and windy conditions to parts of the country from Friday, with the risk of severe thunderstorms developing over parts of Gauteng, Free State and North West from Friday afternoon into Saturday evening.
According to the South African Weather Service (SAWS), the risk is expected to shift further eastwards from Sunday morning, affecting parts of Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal, with the possibility of extending into southern Limpopo.
What to expect this weekend?
SAWS says heavy rain, strong winds, lightning and hail could accompany the storms. Downpours could leave some roads and low-lying areas waterlogged. Strong winds could bring down trees and damage property, particularly in exposed areas.
