Berlin Report

Shot entirely in Europe, much of it on trans-continental autoroutes, Park's weird political allegory doesn't manage to say much about the prospects or perils of Korean reunification but it sort of delivers as a mystery thriller. Raised in France by foster parents, a Korean brother and sister have gone separate ways. The boy, an artist and socialist, has vanished into East Germany; the girl has sunk into a reclusive silence since the unexplained death of her adoptive father. Ahn plays a Paris-based journalist who sets out to break the girl's silence by locating her brother - just after the Berlin Wall has come down. Stylishly shot, decently acted, intriguing.
