Bearing an uncanny resemblance to Amber Films' In Fading Light, this centres on a 'difficult' (i.e. feisty and aggressive) 18-year-old, who leaves her family home on the northern coast of Iceland to join her brother on board a trawler: much gutting ensues. A low-key fable that leavens its raw emotional authenticity with an unexpectedly sly wit, it's deftly acted, crisply shot, and eventually about issues of sexual chauvinism, economics, and labour intrigue. If it never gets as sharply political as Amber's movie, it's a fine effort all the same.
