In collaboration with Louisville Metro Government Public Art Initiative, 21c Museum Hotel Louisville is hosting a public live-stream screening of this year’s Creative Time Summit. Guests are welcome to come and go, attending the sessions they most wish to see during the two days of presentations. In addition to hearing about creative ideas from around the world via the live-stream from Washington DC, there will be opportunities to learn from regional artists and innovators during the Louisville Breakout Sessions, featuring Brandy N. Kelly Pryor, Ph.D., Director of the Louisville Metro Center for Health Equity and Lexington-based artists Kurt Gohde and Kremena Todorova.

Occurring in the nation’s capital just weeks before the 2016 Presidential Election, the Creative Time Summit DC will take this important moment to collectively consider what it might mean to radically transform the current state of democracy. Around the world both the left and the right are making their dissatisfaction with the center known, setting the stage for a virulent electoral season. Shaking up the political landscape, worldwide social movements — from Arab Spring to #BlackLivesMatter — are now ingrained in popular discourse. The 2016 Summit offers a platform for citizen-led strategies and grassroots movements working within, as well as disrupting, electoral politics. As we work to push forward the ideals of human rights in practice, what does it mean to actually occupy power in a future as yet unwritten?

About the Creative Time Summit
Artists have always raised their voices to speak truth to power, and have never been more important than at this moment in history, when social movements are erupting around the world. At Creative Time, we believe that artists are truly change agents, with the ability to affect society for the better. Each year, the Creative Time Summit explores the many ways in which artists are tackling the world’s most challenging social and political issues. Innovative artists, activists, writers, and curators take the Summit stage to present bold new strategies for social change to a global audience.
