In the summer of 2015, legendary musician David Byrne staged an event at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center to celebrate the creativity of color guard. Colloquially known as “the sport of the arts,” color guards perform visually explosive dance routines involving flags, rifles, and sabers.

For the performances, Byrne recruited an array of performers including St. Vincent, Nelly Furtado, Devonté Hynes, tUnEyArDs, Nico Muhly + Ira Glass, and Money Mark + Ad-Rock to join him in creating original compositions to accompany ten color guard teams’ performances. The result is Contemporary Color, a bold and irrepressible snapshot of a one-of-a-kind live experience. 2016, U.S., DCP, 97 minutes. Rated PG-13.

Friday Film Happy Hour: Thanks to Wiltshire at the Speed, the first drink is included in your ticket purchase and offered from 6–7 pm before Friday evening screenings.
