“A gift on a silver platter to Sonia Braga and to the viewer.”—Jay Weissberg, Variety

In one of the sexiest and most politically engaged films of the year, Sonia Braga stars as a widow, cancer survivor, and retired music critic. As the final resident in the apartment building Aquarius, she steadfastly refuses to give up the home in which she has raised her family in the seaside Recife neighborhood in Brazil.

The longer she stays, the more a team of real estate developers make her life in the apartment untenable. As a woman of character and conviction, her strength is tested as corruption infiltrates her home and family. Her collection of music on vinyl gives her the inspiration she needs to thrive.

A selection of the Cannes and Toronto film festivals. 2016, Brazil, DCP, in Portuguese with English subtitles, 145 minutes. Recommended for 17+.
