Surface Noise Presents: Warren Ray says
ALBERTA is Warren ray's first solo record in nearly two decades, a tribute to Tegan & Sara and all things Springsteen. Having learned that the Boss is Tegan & Sara’s biggest influence, Warren decided to give the Canadian duo’s songs “the NEBRASKA treatment.” He has recast eleven of their songs for solo performance, recording them to analog tape in a converted horse ranch in southern Indiana. For his show at Surface Noise, Warren will be performing ALBERTA in its entirety for the first time, prior to its official release later this spring.

Warren Ray started playing in Louisville in the mid-1980s, when his music was referred to as “cow punk.” A seminal member of the alt country movement, he has shared the stage with everyone from Uncle Tupelo to Dwight Yoakam. ALBERTA brings him back to the local music scene after a long hiatus acting in feature films such as ‘Nothing in the Flowers,’ ‘The Orbs,’ and the criticality acclaimed ‘Volumes of Blood: Horror Stories,’ which Fangoria magazine called the best anthology of the year.

Surface Noise events are free and open to the public. A five-dollar donation for the performer(s) is requested but not required
