Castlefield Gallery's Launch Pad series gives emerging artists, writers and curators the chance to use the gallery as a test bed for the production, display and consumption of contemporary art.
Next up in the series is 'It Was a Dark and Stormy Night', a group project by six artists based in the UK, France and The Netherlands, which takes its title from the regularly parodied line that begins Edward Bulwer-Lytton's 1830 novel 'Paul Clifford'.
Tapping into the sense of melodrama associated with the infamous opening line, the artists will forge a story together beginning with 'It was a dark and stormy night' to prompt creativity and indulge imagination, whilst celebrating the farcical and light-hearted side to their practice.
