Time Out says

4 out of 5 stars

New York-inspired watering hole with a ping-pong table and exhibition space.

With a name that’s a riff on the Russian word for an astronaut, it’s somewhat jarring that Kosmonaut is designed more like a neighbourhood bar in New York than anything near St Petersburg. They even have a ‘walk/don’t walk’ sign straight from the streets of Manhattan. Perhaps it’s a nod to the all-day diner- style dishes like salt beef hash with poached egg or gin-cured salmon on toast that make up the simple, likeable food menu.

The drinks aren’t bad either – you’ll find craft beers from local breweries like First Chop on draught and staff pour a selection of classic cocktails very well. Elsewhere, the bar also runs art exhibitions and a ping-pong league, while evenings see appearances from some of Manchester’s finest DJs.
