New York-inspired watering hole with a ping-pong table and exhibition space.

With a name that’s a riff on the Russian word for an astronaut, it’s somewhat jarring that Kosmonaut is designed more like a neighbourhood bar in New York than anything near St Petersburg. They even have a ‘walk/don’t walk’ sign straight from the streets of Manhattan. Perhaps it’s a nod to the all-day diner- style dishes like salt beef hash with poached egg or gin-cured salmon on toast that make up the simple, likeable food menu.

The drinks aren’t bad either – you’ll find craft beers from local breweries like First Chop on draught and staff pour a selection of classic cocktails very well. Elsewhere, the bar also runs art exhibitions and a ping-pong league, while evenings see appearances from some of Manchester’s finest DJs.

Kosmonaut is a great bar, and a surprisingly big one at that. With plenty of seating upstairs and down, you shouldn't struggle finding somewhere to sit. Unless you come on one of their insanely popular quiz nights, when you might not be so lucky! Hip Hop Chip Shop provide the food, with their unique take on chippy classics.

Lovely bar with large booths great for bigger groups/birthday parties and so much space across the floors.

The cocktail menu here is really reasonably priced (6-7 quid) and they are delicious, lots of sweet options for those that way inclined.

On quiz night there is half price food so you can eat cheap and have a bit of fun with the potential of winning a £100 bar tab for the next time (if you know your stuff when it comes to music, bring a muso mate if not). Highly recommend stopping by.
