The Lawn Club

A 'quintessentially British retreat' in the heart of Manchester's Spinningfields.

Inspired by the old school charm of a classical English garden, The Lawn Club is a bar and restaurant serving up locally sourced, seasonal food by chef David Gale.

Things rev up a gear or two come the weekends, which welcome a roster of well-known names of the Mancunian DJ circuit.

I'll confess to not knowing much about Manchester night life but I know what I like and this spot is straight on my 'love list' for a late night drink.

The main bar is loud and crowded as you would expect but if you push through the throngs of body con dresses and eye wateringly tight skinny jeans you will make it to the sanctuary of the conseratory.

With bamboo of the glass ceiling, an abundance of hanging baskets and barebulbs tastefully strung across the ceiling you can easily pretend you are in a tropical location. As it is not a tropic location but north England there are heaters placed on the ceiling to keep hypothermia at bay.

A generous seating area, great cocktail list and a dj playing a great selection of songs at a level where I can still have a conversation in my normal speaking voice (just) makes this place an instant love for me.

I look forward to returning in the summer when the conservatory doors can be opened to the patio for an alfresco cocktail.
