A giant waterslide is coming to Manchester this summer

Fancy making a splash in Heaton Park this summer?

For just one day this July, you’ll be given the chance to slide through the park on a 300m (984 ft) padded waterslide.

It’s all being organised by Slide the City, who run similar events across the US, and they promise a one-of-a-kind experience.

Although the slide is the main feature of the day, there will also be music, dancing, and food and drink available. Visitors are also more than welcome to bring their own water buckets, inflatables and water guns with everyone encouraged to get soaked – whether they slide or not.

All riders must use an inflatable tube, the hire of which is included in the admission fee, and be dressed in swimwear to ride the slide. The event is also open to the entire family – sliders must be at least five years old or 116cm tall to give it a go.

Tickets for the event will go on sale shortly, with three different packages available – providing single, triple or unlimited slides. And as it is Manchester, the event will still go ahead even if there’s a little rain on the day.

Slide The City, Heaton Park, July 18.
