Five things you need to know about Manchester’s new pop-up crazy golf club

Junkyard Golf Club has arrived in Manchester from the team behind B.Eat Street, bringing a new crazy golf course experience to the city - think pool tables rather than ponds and weights instead of windmills. Time Out Manchester popped down to see the course in action, and here’s what you need to know to make the most of the experience.

Read the rules
They may seem dull, but they’re there for good reason as they feature tips and advice so you can get maximum enjoyment out of your game. Did you know a standard crazy golf rule is that you can move your ball one clubs’ width away from the edge or an obstacle? Game-changing, quite literally.

It’s adults-only in the evening
The club opens its doors as noon each day and accompanied children are allowed to play up until 7pm. After this time, it’s just for the over 18s as it gets more boozy after this time.

You can get a hole-in-one
Most of the holes are par three and some of them are more challenging than others, but it is possible to get a hole-in-one on at least a few of them if you’re the ultra-competitive sort – we managed it on 'Shock and Oar' (pictured below).

Standing on a pool table is encouraged
In some bars you'll get dirty looks for even having your drink anywhere near the pool table, but there’s no such restraint at Junkyard Golf Club. For 'Pocket Like It's Hot', you start off standing on top of one (albeit, slightly lower than your standard table) and for 'Locomotioal' you’ll end up in the middle of a train track. As long as there are no ‘beware’ signs, you can stand wherever you like on the obstacles.

It’s not just about the golf
With beats, booze and burgers on offer and plenty of seating, if you don’t fancy a round you can grab a seat and a cocktail and watch your mates play. There’s also a dart board and table football if golf isn’t your game.

Junkyard Golf Club, November 24-December 6, Great Northern Warehouse. £6 per round, per person.
