Welsh post-hardcore trailblazers Funeral for a Friend are calling it quits after 15 years as a band and will be playing their first two albums in full for a farewell tour - with two nights in Manchester.

One of the seminal groups of their genre, Funeral for a Friend released two EPs ‘Between Order and Model’ and ‘Four Ways to Scream Your Name’ before their first full-length album ‘Casually Dressed and Deep in Conversation’ in 2003.

This was followed by 2005’s ‘Hours’ and they’ve continued to tour and make records since - with their seventh studio album ‘Chapter and Verse’ released earlier this year.

For their final outing, they’ll be playing their first two albums in full on concurrent dates in each city for the ‘Last Chance to Dance Tour’ – starting with ‘Hours’.

Vocalist Matthew Davies-Kreye explains why they’ve chosen to end their careers focusing on their maiden two releases.

'For me it seemed obvious to go out with both "Hours" and "Casually Dressed.." I feel that both those records distill what Funeral is to a whole load of people more definitively than just piecing together a set from all the records we've made,’ he says.

'It seems to me that those are the records that matter most and "Hours" to me is my proudest achievement in music with Funeral,' he adds.

Funeral for a Friend, ‘Last Chance to Dance’, Friday April 8 and Saturday April 9, The Ritz. Tickets on sale September 18 at 10am.
