Calling all fans of the weird, macabre and magical. Fancy getting lost inside a freaky fairground cum circus?

Theatre creators Wild Rumpus are turning Burrs Country Park in Bury into a Lost Carnival where a once world famous travelling show which disappeared under very strange and mystifying circumstance will magically re-appear...

But the carnival won't last forever and it needs help to regain its former glory. Will you help it?

The Pendulum

A host of performers, acrobats, musicians and mechanical monsters will be inviting you to step back in time and revive the fortunes of the once great carnival, with highlights including:

-The Marie Celestial, a giant, walking, mutating Pan-Galactic Circus Beast featuring a massive, beating iron heart, mechanical transformations, pyrotechnic effects, all accompanied by a cast performing aerial circus, acrobatics, dance and percussion both on board the moving structure and on the ground

- The Baghdaddies with their wild Balkan music, with Middle Eastern rhythms and even some Geordie touches

- Travelling Light Circus’ Pendulum Wave Machine combining technical wizardry with the genius of a bonkers Victorian scientist, to create an unforgettable sight for modern eyes

- Mufti Does Games’ L_ve Hangman, an interactive installation from The Barbican, reimagining the classic game as a macabre life-sized sideshow

If it all sounds a bit spooky, this family friendly event is aimed at making sure kids get a genuine sense of wonder and amazement out of the action, as well as the grown ups. Lost Carnival has been compared to both Cirque du Soleil and the shows of Punch Drunk, where you are part of the action, so it looks like a magical, mysterious and slightly spooky chance to step into a world unlike any other.

Lost Carnival is at Burrs Country Park in Bury, Fri 22 – Mon 25 May 4pm – 9.30pm daily, £10 per person (under 3s go free).
