Sometime in mid November - the exact date is yet to be confirmed - Manchester International Festival will announce its first commissions for 2015. Excited? If previous MIFs are anything to go by, you should be.

Bjork's 'Biophilia', Victoria Wood's 'That Day We Sang', Tino Sehgal, Rufus Wainwright, Snoop Dogg, Kraftwerk, Zaha Hadid, Damon Albarn, Massive Attack 'The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic' starring Willem Dafoe - the list of artists and the quality of the work created by MIF is astonishing.

MIF13 saw the launch of a membership scheme and, once again, MIF Members get first pick when the new events go on sale, amongst other benefits. This proved hugely popular for the 2013 announcement when 'The xx In Residence' and 'Macbeth' with Kenneth Branagh were the shows in question. With both being limited capacity ('The xx' was for only sixty people a night), there was a mad scramble for the golden tickets.

As yet there's no hint at what the Festival has in store for 2015, and the full programme won't be revealed until the new year. Staff at MIF (that's M.I.F. - don't say 'mif') must sign their contracts in blood, so good are they at not spilling the beans when you're trying to get something out of them after a few drinks, but MIF's secrets are always surprising and always worth the wait.

MIF15 runs from 2-19 July 2015
