Manchester's top ten family friendly streets

Today a new report reveals the top 10 streets in Manchester to raise a family on, with the launch of a new tool that allows anyone to see how their own postcode is rated.

The Family Friendliness Index (FFI) compiled by property research tool Property Detective examined every Manchester postcode to provide a detailed, objective and scientific insight into the best places to raise a family examining factors such as facilities, schools, and crime rates.

And the results, in time honoured reverse order, are as follows:

10: M35 9WQ - Medlock Road, Failsworth
A lovely country road; this old mill town offers low crime rates and has a good range of play facilities for families nearby.

9: M21 9ES - Brookburn Road, Stretford
Running alongside a quiet park and charming brook; this village is well connected to wider road networks while offering plenty of mum's networks and nurseries.

8: M24 1EQ - Kirkway, Middleton
A cosy road in the heart of this thriving metropolis with a good range of shops for families and great schools nearby.

7: M34 2ND - Laburnum Lane, Denton
Nestled in a lovely residential town this picturesque lane offers quick access to facilities and amenities while the local park is just a short drive away.

6: M20 6ED - Fog Lane, Withington
Running alongside a serene park this lane offers quick access to green scenery, a quite popular place for other families.

5: M7 4FY Waterpark Road, Higher Broughton
Large trees provide shade to this charming road which offers new families access to prime facilities including a maternity unit and local chemists.

4 M29 7AY - Astley Street, Tyldesley
A serene street with beautiful parks on either side; this historic town provides ready access to amenities and facilities young families need.

3: M28 1AE - Commonside Road, Worsley
A quiet road surrounded by playing fields; this is the place to find green spaces and a wide range of childcare options.

2: M46 0PS - St Michael's Avenue, Atherton
An active avenue nestled in a large retail centre offers prime access to nurseries and an outstanding primary school just a short walk away.

1: M28 1BJ - Wellington Drive, Worsley
A tree-lined lane surrounded by fields; this peaceful, old mining village has a wealth of great local schools nearby.
