2015's Manchester International Festival may have been and gone but the work continues to take Manchester's name all over the world.

One of the Festival's big hits during the summer was 'Tree of Codes', a contemporary ballet combining the choreography of Wayne McGregor, the music of Jamie XX, dancers from Paris Opera Ballet and design by the artist Olafur Eliasson. Performances at Manchester's Opera House were greeted with rapturous applause, standing ovations and even tears.

This week the ballet has opened in New York, at Park Avenue Armory. The New York Times has described it as 'Jaw-dropping … [with] breathtaking physical feats and visual dazzle' and tickets have been in high demand.

Much of MIF's work continues to tour once the Festival is over, taking the reputation of Manchester as a culturally significant city across the globe.

'Monkey: Journey to the West' from the first MIF in 2007 toured to Paris, the USA and London, 2011's hit, 'The Life and Death of Marina Abromovic' went to New York and Toronto, whilst the visual art show '11 Rooms' added an extra room when it toured to Sydney, Basel and Essen.
