A week of music, dancing, contemporary art and some tip top theatre? Yes? Well then, welcome to our ten things not to be missed this week in Manchester. Well, it keeps you out of the cold, doesn't it?

Re:play Festival 2015
, HOME (pop up space), until Sat Jan 24, check website for prices
Each year the Re:play Festival takes some of the best new theatre work presented in Manchester and Salford and gives us the chance to see it again. And this time, it's at HOME!

30 Years of the Future, Castlefield Gallery, until Sun Feb 1, free
This small and always interesting gallery is celebrating its 30 years by displaying work created for this exhibition by artists who have been suggested by other artists whose careers have been boosted by the place over the last three decades. Nice!

Wayne McGregor Random Dance, The Lowry, Tue Jan 20, £14 - £16
'Atomos' is the newest full length work by this incredible choreographer, and this is a great chance to see what he can do in advance of his MIF commission, 'Tree of Codes', coming in July.

Alvvays, Deaf Institute, Wed Jan 21, £8
Toronto's indie pop band play the mid size venue but if you can't get in or can't make it, fear not, they're back later in the year at the Academy.

Queen and Adam Lambert, Manchester Arena, Wed Jan 21, from £59
It seems that recruiting the flamboyant Adam Lambert, an American Idol, has given the band a new lease of life. He's certainly a worthy successor to Mercury singing the hits with all of the showmanship present and correct.

BBC Philharmonic, Bridgewater Hall, Fri Jan 23, £10 - £35
Beethoven’s 'Egmont', inspired by the Goethe play, is rarely performed in full but it will be here, recorded for Radio 3 so you can catch it on the wireless if you can't make it on the night.

Robin Ince, The Lowry, Fri Jan 23, £16
In a show entitled 'Blooming Buzzing Confusion', you can expect the usual wit and intelligence from the comic with a philosophical side.

Transmission, Albert Hall, Fri Jan 23, £25
Transmission night this week with Ram Jam taking over the Albert Hall and transforming it into the biggest dance party in the city.

First Aid Kit, O2 Apollo, Fri Jan 23, £25
The Swedish sisters bring their folk pop loveliness to Manchester, allowing for a collective sigh of heart-touching gentleness from us all.

Ex Machina
The most interesting of the week's new releases sees writer Alex Garland (author of 'The Beach', writer of '28 Days Later'),take on the directorial as well as scriptwriting reigns in a cautionary tale of artificial intelligence and a man who takes his dream too far.
