You can now buy (some) Metrolink tickets from your phone

Good news if you hate queuing to buy tram tickets – you can now buy certain Metrolink tickets from a new app.

The Get Me There mobile ticketing app will allow you to purchase one day, weekend and seven day passes from your phone – but it may not be too useful to casual tram users as single and return tickets between individual stops are not included.

The app accepts payment via debit or credit card, or Apple Pay and once purchased, the travelcard is stored on your phone in case you need to show it during your journey.

Transport for Greater Manchester say they will be monitoring take-up and gathering feedback from users for further development – so could mobile ticketing for all tram tickets be on the way to make life easier for commuters?

You can download the app by searching for ‘Get Me There’ on Apple’s App Store or Google Play for Android devices.
