Dubstep pioneer-turned disco don Skream holds a 13-week Saturday residency at Shoreditch club XOYO, both playing and curating the DJ line-ups
After a mysterious publicity campaign that involved billboards, posters and stickers being plastered all over London asking: 'Got house?' (or disco or techno) with a mobile number underneath, it was finally revealed (via a recorded message after dialling said number) that Skream will be first 2015 resident DJ in the ever-impressive XOYO Residency Series that provided many clubbing highlights of 2014.
The former dubstep don showed us all a while back that his musical tastes expand far beyond just bass wobbles, and he's proved himself to be an incredibly versatile and talented selector over the past few years, dipping into disco, techno, funk, garage, pop, house and straight-up party jams.
Thus, his XOYO residency – which sees him DJing and curating every Saturday during January, February and March – should be a treat indeed. Some of Skream's many guests helping create three months of top parties include a gleaming cast of house, techno, disco and garage royalty: Artwork, Route 94, DJ EZ, Horse Meat Disco, Eats Everything, Slimzee, Dimitri From Paris, Soul Clap, Derrick Carter and many more.
