Montpellier's combination of good food, wine and beer, plus its relaxed pub-like atmosphere, and a programme of live music and DJs makes this Northern Quarter venue quite a hidden gem.
And the food is quite delicious. The menu isn't huge but the choice is good. In winter months, pies served in hot tin dishes with wooden boards at the side with your chips and veg are a particular favourite and they do a fine reasonably priced Malbec.
It's lively and can get busy and yet it somehow still manages to keep a cosy feel about it. A TV sometimes shows the football but it doesn't intrude on the eating area. The staff are wonderfuly welcoming, even the burly looking chaps on the door are more polite than most people you'd chat to at the tram stop.
