Time Out says

A café-bar serving good, locally sourced food and indie beers. In summer, make a bee-line for the outdoor area

Located on West Didsbury’s Burton Road, Folk is a neighbourhood café-bar that packs a punch in the food stakes. There’s a wonkily styled gentleman’s club vibe, set off by an outdoor bamboo-style pavillion that wouldn’t look out of place in a Wham! video.

The roster of drinks includes lattes, hot chocolates and loose-leaf teas, all moderately priced for this neck of the woods. Food comes fresh from Cheshire Produce on New Smithfield market, and the menu is big on stodgy classics, with burgers and pies served with some of the chunkiest chips in Manchester. For healthier classics, a selection of wraps and sandwiches are welcome additions, including a fish finger sandwich that would make Captain Birdseye weep in shame.

Booze-wise, there are beers from America’s Freedom Brewery and Switzerland’s 1936 Biere. Wines cover everything from albarino to châteauneuf-du-pape and are available by glass or bottle.
