Brought to you by the folks behind Almost Famous is this contemporary Tex-Mex restaurant. Located in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, this is Manchester’s premier spot for beer, tacos, burgers, burritos, beer, steaks, chilli, cocktails, fries, sides, desserts and even more beer.
It's not just the menu that’s inspired by a road trip from Vegas to Mexico – the interior is, too. From neon wall lights, bold artwork and mini cacti to tacos served on Californian licence plates, the Cali-fusion is deployed anything but subtly.
A huge menu has something to suit most. Chips and dips are followed by a selection of starters including quesadillas, grilled halloumi and a pint of shrimp and squid. Main courses are heavy on burritos and tacos, both available in many varieties. Crispy beef street tacos are served open and show that you can create something special with only a handful of ingredients. The burritos are not for the faint hearted, packed full to bursting with well-selected fillings to ensure every mouthful tastes slightly different.
Sides are plentiful and varied. Fancy a show with your meal? Order the smashed guacamole special – the avocados are cracked open tableside by your server, so there’s no denying the freshness.
The dessert selection is minimal and, for most, unnecessary after an epic feast. However, for extreme eaters there’s the ‘Tapout Burrito’, a huge ‘Man vs Food’-sized beast, jam packed with crispy beef, BBQ pulled pork, shredded beer can chicken, fries, cheese, spicy rice, grilled onions and peppers, plus a sackful of salads and sauces. Yeah, good luck with that.
Bookings aren't taken so you can just roll up and queue with your compadres or reserve your table and get started at the bar. Tequila, anyone?
