Teacup Kitchen

Manchester’s very own tea mecca, owned by brew-loving DJ Mr Scruff. Cuppas this classy don’t come cheap, but staff are friendly and kids are very welcome

Established by Manchester's very own Mr Scruff, whose love of tea is as strong as his love of music (if not stronger), Teacup is a place where you’ll not only find all manner of tea varieties, but an extensive cake menu, cocktails, wines and beers, plus a full lunch and evening meal menu, too. Where possible, Teacup ingredients are organic and fairtrade. It's also refreshingly child-friendly.

It's all rather lovely, the décor is nicely done, the staff are friendly. But it's not cheap. Taking loose-leaf tea this seriously means you'll pay close to a fiver for a pot of something premium and there's no hot water to top your pot up. Some teas also come with timers so that you know when to start pouring for maximum flavour. It also gets very, very busy, its popularity meaning that there's sometimes a queue to get in. If you really love your tea though, it'll be well worth the wait.

Mouthwatering cakes and treats, but the service was a little lacking. I was served a pot of tea with a sharp cracked spout. My friend pointed this out to the waitress and she didn; 't seem phased at all - no offer to replace it or apology for the potential hazard. The food was delicious, but the service needs work.

Tempting cakes and a great selection of teas. The cakes are slightly on the sweet side for me, but there's savoury options, and sharing the cake did me grand. Slightly more expensive than the rest of NQ, but service was great

a touch expensive but good for a treat. visited with friends for a birthday party and we had great service. why i have to time my tea i will never know but everything was really tasty.

Great selection of teas and coffee and nice breakfasts, although a little overpriced compared to other places nearby. £3.50 for a couple of slices of soughdough toast is a bit much!

Went there to try their Rainbow Cake, listed on Buzzfeed. The cake looks incredible, but for my taste it lacks flavour... Great place though. Worth a visit. Fine and friendly staff.
