Restaurants, Indian Central Manchester

A new Indian restaurant on Left Bank, Spinningfields. Recognisable curry house staples are available but this place is much more than just bhunas, baltis and biryanis.

A range of chaats include samosas, aloo tikka, pani puri and dahi bhalla, while 'street corner' starters range from king prawn tikka, lamb chops and seekh kebabs to fish amritsari, tangdi chicken and jingha til tinka - king prawns marinated with sesame oil and spices before being coated with breadscrumbs and fried until golden brown.

Meatier mains include signature dishes such as chicken jaipuri, butter chicken and monkfish cooked in a mild masala sauce. Expect, too, tandoori mixed grills, chicken chettinad and dhaba murgh - a Punjabi dish of chicken cooked in a thick sauce with spring onions, fresh coriander and traditional spices.

Came here for a celebration dinner, and left very happy with my mini food baby The food was full of flavour and made with fresh ingredients, and just kept coming! We ate from the set menu, which everybody was very pleasantly surprised with and came with an amazing selection of starters (aloo tikki chaat was a big hit with everyone) and meaty and veggie curries. The restaurant itself was quite big, and beautifully and quirkily (new word?) decorated, and the service was on point throughout our dinner.
