Artist Statement Workshop says
Is an Artist Statement standing in the way of your reception of wonderful grants, solo exhibitions, and other artistic opportunities? Don't worry, Altered Esthetics is here to help!

Altered Esthetics is holding an Artist Statement Workshop for emerging and mid-career artists. The workshop will focus on demystifying the writing process, establishing the purpose of a statement, and what information should be included.

The workshop is limited to 25 participants and will provide the opportunity for peer-to-peer feedback and review. Applicants will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Participating artists are asked to bring 3 copies of their current artist statement to the workshop. This statement can be in early working stages and be as simple as a list of words and phrases about your work. Including images of your work for visual reference is encouraged, but not required for the workshop.

Minneapolis-based artist and curator Donny Gettinger will lead the workshop. Gettinger earned his MFA from the Henry Radford Hope School of Art, Bloomington, Indiana in 2014. He served as the ECRAC's Curator and Gallery Coordinator from 2015-2016, and recently became the Director of Educational Programming for Altered Esthetics. His work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, with recent shows at The James May Gallery in Algoma, WI, Seed Space in Nashville, TN, and Foto la NaBe in Mexico City, Mexico.

*Altered Estetics is a non-profit arts organization which strives to provide quality events, educational programming, exihibitions, and opportunities at a low cost to artists. A suggested donation of $3 for this workshop assists with continuing our mission.
