Dakota Elders Announcement:

On Saturday May 13 Dakota traditional spiritual elders will discuss the history of Red Rock followed by their announcement of the sacred site where they intend for In-Yan Sa be placed.

This is the next step in an ongoing collaboration with the United Methodist Church, Dakota elders and the managers of the new site where the elders want In-Yan Sha to be placed. On March 16, Bishop Ough of the United Methodist Church announced his acknowledgement that the "Red Rock" on the property of the UMC Church in Newport Minnesota is "In-Yan Sha, a sacred rock to the Dakota people. He also shared his intention to help facilitate the proper return of "Red Rock" to the Dakota People from its current location in Newport.

At the request of the elders, representatives related to the new site will be present at the May 13 meeting to answer questions and to listen. A brief presentation about proposed plans to protect In-Yan Sha will be shared. Elders have also invited a registered mediator with experience in helping with sacred sites to work with them to help facilitate the formal process with the Bishop and the UMC church in Newport.

This meeting will be open to the public with limited seating on Saturday May 13th
1:30 pm to 5pm at All My Relations Gallery, 1414 Franklin Ave Minneapolis Minnesota. We welcome those who come with a good heart, with respect for the elders, In-Yan Sa and our Sacred sites.
