Karla Cordero is a Latina poet, educator, and activist born along the borderlands of Southern California. She is the co-founder and editor of SpitJournal, an online literary review for poetry and social justice. Her work has been published in Word Riot, Poetry International, The Acentos Review, Toe Good Poetry, and elsewhere. Cordero is the 2013 San Diego Grand Slam Champion and recipient of the Global Diversity Award at San Diego State University. Her first chapbook, Grasshoppers Before Gods, will be released in 2016 (Dancing Girl Press). She is a Loft Spoken Word Immersion Fellow.

She will be joined by Ant Black, a spoken word poet and organizer who helped develop the San Diego poetry community to national prominence. He is one of the founders of Collective Purpose, which hosts one of the largest and longest running open-mic in the area; Elevated. Anthony is a five-time member of the San Diego Poetry Slam Team. He has also collaborated with the dance company bkSoul to stage three full-length shows exploring the fusion between text, movement, and hip-hop.
