Falling Angels

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago captivated audiences when they first appeared here two years ago. Now, these 18 gorgeous dancers–artists of unparalleled talent and versatility will fill the Northrop stage with a stunning contemporary repertory program. Opening the show is choreographer Crystal Pite’s 'Solo/Echo,' followed by a dramatic juxtaposition of Jiri Kylian’s all-female 'Falling Angels' and William Forsythe’s all-male 'NNNN' while Nacho Duato’s haunting Gnawa rounds out the evening. Created expressly for the Hubbard Street dancers, Gnawa is a vision of mysterious beauty and sensual elegance that transports us to the Mediterranean with Sufi-influenced Moroccan songs, Spanish guitar, and North African drumming.

“Hubbard Street Dance Chicago ought to bottle itself as a cure for the ills of the era.”
