Teresa Carmody of Les Figues Press, Krystal Languell of Belladonna* Collaborative, Lisa Bowden of Kore Press, Annie Guthrie of UA University of Arizona Poetry Center, and TC Tolbert of Casa Libre explore the often thorny topic of operating within, and against, the market and gift economies at once, as publishers, editors, curators, writers, and artists. How can artists and arts presenters work innovatively and sustainably together given a touchy cultural playing field where the price tag of doing business and the reliance on literary citizenship are often suspect; buying from big boxes online is cheap and easy for the reader and spendy for the producer; reviewers often review who they know; and the economic reality of sustaining long-term literary enterprise is exhausting?

Join us in a queering conversation that will envision disruption, interruption, and revolution of generally accepted rhetoric, expectations, and notions of doing business as usual. We will consider how innovative aesthetic/editorial practices can extend into more sustainable and responsible models of working together (collaboratively, collectively, coalitionally, cooperatively) without invisibilizing labor. How to subvert prevailing notions while operating within systems that tend to norm and habituate expectations. Please come participate in the conversation. We'd love to have your voice in the room.
