University of Minnesota Department of Art & Katherine E. Nash Gallery says
Born in Athens, Greece in 1979, Georgia Sagri studied at the National Music School of Athens, holds a BFA from Athens School of Fine Arts, and MFAs from Columbia University, New York. At the center of her practice lies the exploration of performance as an ever-evolving field within social and visual life, interconnected, though distinct from the dialectics of representation in theatre, music and dance. Sagri’s work has been shown internationally in public institutions, including the Kunsthalle Basel (2014), Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw (2013), Biennale de Lyon (2013), ProBio, Expo 1: New York, MoMA PS1, New York (2013) and the Whitney Biennial, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York (2011). She will be participating artist on the 14th Istanbul Biennial (September 5-November 1, 2015) curated by Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev.
Sagri is currently an Artist-in-Residence at Issue Project Room, New York. In this framework she is presenting her research entitled Daily Bread online and live at Mathew Gallery New York.
