Time Out says

This London-set, Oedipal psychodrama (named after a Leonard Cohen song) is slick and ambitious but also soapy and unfulfilling. It’s directed by Dana Lustig, who attracts the likes of Jodie Whittaker, Dougray Scott and Emilia Fox to her low-budget tale of a young woman, Mia (Whittaker), who is spurred by her mother’s death to confront family demons. There’s a well-integrated fantasy element: the lift in Mia’s residence whisks her back in time to witness her younger self in an abusive relationship with Ludwig (Scott) and the early days of her parents’ marriage (Fox plays her mum). But this fresh way of exploring inner turmoil isn’t matched by the quality of the characterisation or the credibility of the relationships.
