A Touch of Class

Time Out says

For the most part, this romantic comedy (married American businessman versus divorcee English designer) successfully fights off the implications of its title and appalling theme song, thanks to some sharp dialogue and an excellent performance from Segal at his edgy, harassed best. Melvin Frank has put in his share of years as a comedy scriptwriter, which probably accounts for the distinctly old-fashioned air. Sharp at the edges but soft in the centre, the film starts well with Segal's middle class stud fantasies being ripped to shreds by Glenda Jackson in full flight. Barbs fly, but too soon she degenerates into devoted clock-watching mistress, and the film into routine formula. Often enjoyable, though, if mainly for Segal holding the seeping sentimentality at bay.
