Time Out says

2 out of 5 stars

If you think the characters in Babel were dogged with bad luck, meet Ivan (Mikkelsen), the unfortunate pastor in this film written and directed by Dogma disciple Anders Thomas Jensen. As one character bluntly tells him: “Your son’s a spastic. Your wife killed herself. Your mother died giving birth to you. Your dad raped you.” And that’s before Ivan meets Adam (Thomsen), a neo-Nazi ex-con determined to undermine his faith in God. Adam’s Apples strives for black comedy, but winds up being neither funny nor spiritually enlightening. (Opens Fri; Clearview Chelsea.) — Tom Beer
